AILA Leadership Has Just Posted the Following:
Senator Sessions cannot leave his hands off of E-Verify. Now in "stealth" mode, Senator Sessions has slyly introduced an E-Verify amendment (SB 1371) during today's full Senate vote on the DHS appropriations bill.
The Sessions amendment calls for a permanent reauthorization of the Basic Pilot/E-Verify program, and mandates its use for all federal contractors and subcontractors - including the verification of all existing employees. This amounts to a massive expansion of a program that is still not ready for prime-time.
We must call our Senators and tell them to oppose this sneak attack by Senator Sessions for the following reasons:
It would impose exorbitant costs on businesses at a time when our economy is most vulnerable:
An economic analysis commissioned by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
concluded that the net societal costs of the program would be $10 billion a year
a cost that would be felt disproportionately by small businesses. It would make Basic Pilot/E-Verify permanent without addressing its well documented database inaccuracies:
A 2007 independent evaluation of the program commissioned by DHS found that
the Basic Pilot/E-Verify database is still not sufficiently up to date to meet
the requirements for accurate verification.
SSA has estimated that if Basic Pilot/E-Verify were to become mandatory and
the databases were not improved, SSA database errors alone could result in 3.6
million workers a year being misidentified as not authorized for employment.
This would result in 6 out of every 100 workers having to visit an SSA office to
correct their records or lose their job.
It would force workers and businesses to pay a high price for Basic Pilot/E-Verify's inaccuracies:
Queries submitted to Basic Pilot/E-Verify by Intel Corporation in 2008 resulted
in nearly 13 percent of all workers being initially flagged as unauthorized for
employment. All of these workers were cleared by Basic Pilot/E-Verify as
work-authorized, but only after significant investment of time and money
and lost productivity. We urge all AILA members to call their Congressman today and oppose the Sessions amendment (SB 1371). Don't let Senator Session's stealth tactics create a nationwide crisis for employers!

I'm on my OPT, basically student F1 visa.
The thing is the company where I work is ready to sponsor me. They only don't know which occupation to write for me in order to be eligible for H1B.
I'm working over there on administrative position and doing various accounting things.
Thanks

Presently I am on H1B visa status, valid till March 2009. My PD is of June 2005 and I-140 was done in 2005 also, presently trapped in retrogression.
I have a great offer from a big oil company. After my possible joining to them with H1B transfer, they are willing to start my labor also. In such a case, I want my new labor to be filed ASAP, as my son will be 21 years old in march 2008.
In a case I join this new company in middle of August, when do you think my labor could be filed....I heard there is some two months advertising involved before filing in PERM.
Thanks for your time guys.
Advertising requires just one month period. Depending on how much advertising has been done before for the same job. You could typically file for PERM easily by mid september if not sooner.

I am an American physician and I am currently working on building an Internet business. What kinds of questions do you have? I might be able to help. In addition to my medical practice, which includes acting as a Civil Surgeon, I am an Independent Business Advisor for Bill Glazier and Dan Kennedy. You might not know who they are but they offer training in creating information products to sell on the Internet and they also help business owners learn how to increase their income. And it has NOTHING to do with Amway.

Hi
My I140 has been denied 2 times. 1st time was in EB3 Professional and 2nd was in EB3 Skilled worker category. I am not sure the reason for the 2nd denial since I am waiting for the notice letter.
I urgently need an attorney who has recently cleared a few cases with 3 year degree (only 3 year degree not combination with Masters / Diploma etc)
If you are someone who has 3 year degree and recently got approval, please IM me your attorney's details.
Thanks
I have 3 years degree and 1 year diploma. My labor was approved in 2007 under RIR. My company attorney was Cyrus Mehta at that time.

Some members in other posts have used abusive language to the extent of comparing my wife to a dog. And some have asked for the money since I have got the answers. I am not sure how these "skilled" people can lobby for the skil bill or for that matter convince a single congressman.
I am keeping an open mind and soon when I get my tax refund or bonus I will be able to contribute. I have high personal expenses and I am not too desperate for GC to ruin my financial security and run after this mirage. Hope you guys get it. If you are short on money just ask. I agree my post was off topic, but it did not warrant insults. It just shows what kind of people I will be company to. Now if I were to call you guys some "shiite moolahs" you wont like it, would you?

I was looking at it and thinking that the really bright highlights gave a sense of heat.
Aha, I think I see what you're going for. It could work if for instance there was a more directional light like a strong light from the right, and the left and back of the firefighter was darker.
